To the Coordinating Council of WFDY
To the Regional Coordinators of WFDY
To the General Council of WFDY
To all the Member Organizations of WFDY
To all the Friendly Organizations of WFDY
Dear Comrades and Friends:
First of all we send you many greetings from the
Headquarters of the World Federation of Democratic Youth
(WFDY) in Budapest, Hungary.
As you are aware our member organization in Czech
Republic (KSM - Communist Youth Union)
started to face very hard difficulties due to the
attempt of the government of this country to strike on
them demanding the change of their political positions
and organization on February 2006. To stop these
attacks against freedom and democracy WFDY and its
member organizations have carried out several solidarity
activities and actions from that date.
On 16th of October 2006 we got the information that on
this day KSM was informed on the decision of the
Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic that makes
the Communist Youth Union (KSM) officially dissolved.
Therefore we are calling upon all our member and
friendly organizations at national, regional and
international level to organize protest actions against
this measure and solidarity actions with KSM to be
developed during Two Weeks of Solidarity starting
on Monday, 23rd of October 2006, on the framework
of the WFDY’s International Campaign for Democratic
and Civil Rights and Liberties.
Enclosed with this message we are sending three (3)
important documents: the Statement of WFDY, prepared by
CENA (Commission of Europe and North America), the last
information received from KSM, as well as the Statement
issued by WFDY in February 2006.
