    On the International Women’s Day

Today, March 08, the peoples and youth of the world celebrate the IWD. This day, conquered with the struggle of the working women deserves from all the anti-imperialist organizations maximum attention as it represents yet another opportunity to denounce the contradictions, inequalities and inhuman character of the imperialist order.Despite the huge technological achievements and the outstanding data collected by international organizations (as the UN, UNESCO and others), the women of our world continue to be subject of even deeper exploitation and discrimination.

In fact, even in what imperialism tries to promote as “first world”, it is the official data of the European Union itself that says that women have in average salaries 18% lower than men, despite the fact that, also in average, women are ahead in terms of school and university studies.

The discrimination of women is felt through the low salaries, but also other mechanisms that seem “undercover”, as the prohibition to be pregnant or the disrespect for the motherhood/fatherhood license, which are felt by most of the women of the working class in general, but even more with the widespread of the unemployment, precarious work and the general withdrawal of rights experienced by the workers and peoples of the world, in the framework of the current crisis of the capital system.

On this day, we salute all women that struggle and particularly those in countries where cultural and religious backgrounds represent an even stronger object to women’s activism.

On this day, WFDY reaffirms its commitment with struggle for the rights of women, as we consider it is an essential aspect of our wider project of defeating imperialism in all its expressions and that is why this is a struggle of all the peoples and workers and not of the women alone.

We do not only demand equality between men and women, but an equality done at higher level, with decent salaries and the fulfillment of all mankind’s rights (employment, education, culture, sports, motherhood/fatherhood, etc.) both women and men.

Finally, on this day, we salute the Women International Democratic Federation (WIDF) and all its members, as our sister organization in the struggle against imperialism, that together we will surely defeat!

On the International Woman Day (100th Anniversary)

On the occasion of the International Woman’s Day, particularly in this 100th anniversary, the World Federation of Democratic Youth salutes all women of the globe, especially those who bravely fight against imperialism.
It was 100 years ago that the women of several different countries of the world came together and declared this day to mark their struggle for better working conditions and the end of all sorts of discriminations, for full recognition of their rights as youngsters, workers and human beings.
In a world in which the wars, occupations, environmental destruction, unemployment, precariousness, exploitation, barriers in access to education, culture and sports is a reality for more and more people, women face an even stronger attack of imperialism that, together with everything else, still elects women as target for chauvinistic and discriminative values making life even worse for them, particularly for the working women, whose rights are even further denied.
WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to spread the historical content of this day, as well as the contribution of important of women as Clara Zetkin, Luxembourg Rosa, Dolores Gomez, Winnie Mandela (among many others), to enhance even further the common struggle - of men and women - against the source of all inequalities and injustices in the world: imperialism!

    On the International Women’s Day

The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) salutes all young and working women on this International Women’s Day, March 08, a Day born out of the struggle of women, who throughout decades have firmly demonstrated specially in this day for specific and fair demands, namely the reduction of their working time.

The imperialist domination of the world makes that the life of women in most countries is marked by the discrimination in the access to rights. Imperialism uses the female condition to increase the exploitation of young women, punishing them for their condition of mothers, with low salaries, long working periods and short periods of time-off in case of giving birth to a child. In many countries, women face threat of or effective dismissal if they decide to have a child.

The idea that the women are something less than men, is still very much in use and, specially, in practice, despite the Universal Rights Declaration 60 years of existence. Such discrimination, statiscally confirmed, is indeed a tool of imperialism to deepen the exploitation of the people as whole, exploiting women and blackmailing men, in order to keep its domination over people, keeping also the world as place of tremendous inequalities, starvation, exploitation and war.

In this sense, WFDY is sure that only by overthrowing imperialism is possible to overthrow the discrimination faced by women in the imperialist ruled world of nowadays.

Therefore, WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to make the March 08th, 2009, a day where the celebration of the International Women’s Day is made in the streets, demonstrating against the imperialist policies and its puppets around the world, for young people, women and workers’ rights, as we are sure that the organized struggle is the only way for victory.
