Statement issued by the WFDY regarding the oppressive acts of the Jordanian Government against the participants of the JDYU’s seminar
Once again the Jordanian authorities succeed in proving itself as the major leading security practices of the region. As if a major country cannot afford the participation of young activists in a seminar on its land, the authorities hasten to detain them the minute they arrive, keep them under arrest and investigations for an entire night before it deports them, on the first morning flight the day after.
Three comrades from the Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth-ULDY, President Ali Mteirek and members of the Executive Bureau, Mona Awali and Assem Tarhini were arrested on their way to attend and participate in a seminar organized by the “Jordanian Democratic Youth Union -JDYU” as well as Jordanian militants and political activists entitled: “Models & Prospects of Change in the Arab World”, in order to exhibit the struggle for change in Lebanon under the dominating sectarian regime, to be surprised by another oppressor regime, labeling this act as exceeding the allowable limits set in a country where tolerated acts are now less than few.
