On the prosecutions against CJC Spain members and popular movements

In a few days, in Spain another act of governmental and state repression against the popular movement will take place. On the 1st of December, three members of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain and the Collectives of Young Communists will be on trial under false accusations fabricated by the police and without substantial evidence. In reality their real “crime” is their ideology and their participation in the struggle of the peoples of Spain for social justice.

The case of the three Spanish militants is not the only one. All around the world, even in the self proclaimed “democratic” states of Europe and North America the popular movements and the struggle of the peoples are prosecuted. The criminalization of communist ideals and communist organizations, the falsification of history by the European Union, the police violence against demonstrators, the arrests of progressive and socialist students and the provocations against the massive class oriented popular demonstrations are all examples that in different scales and levels capitalism tries to eliminate every core of resistance.

The repression, the prosecutions and the attacks against militants of the popular movements must alarm every democratic and progressive young man and woman. All this comes in the same framework as the attacks on the social rights in all of these countries.

WFDY expresses its solidarity towards the three comrades in Spain. Their battle is an example of the many battles we have to give against imperialist mechanisms. Even though these mechanisms seem powerful we are sure that the peoples struggle and especially the struggle of the youth will one day defeat them.

We call upon all WFDY member to express to solidarity with our Spanish comrades in the framework of the struggle that their developing in their countries for democratic rights, against imperialism.

    Solidarity towards the Spanish youth

The World Federation of Democratic Youth strongly condemns the violent repression done by the police authorities of authorities of the province of Catalonia against the young people camping in the center of the city of Barcelona, in protest against the Government’s policies and for the rights of the youth.

As it is of public knowledge, over the last week, the Spanish young people (together with other layers of the Spanish working movement) have been staying camped in squares all over the country. With different backgrounds and broad aims, it is for us important to highlight that the persistent struggle of these thousands of young people has a general progressive content: against precariousness and unemployment, for solutions that put the workers and youngsters first and not the banks and economic groups, as it has been done by the dominating classes over the last decades, and thereby in a way questioning the ruling economic and political system foundations and principles themselves.

The repression that the Spanish young people have suffered in Barcelona - that has caused 121 wounded - and in Lleida is a sign that the system does not deal well with the protest and struggle and is ready to use any means to shut it down, if the most peaceful are proved insufficient or inefficient. The repression is an attempt to stop the deepening of the political character and widespread of the movement to other areas than just the camps.

WFDY encourages the Spanish young people to keep their persistent struggle and take it even further so that it can be organized and politicized to a level that is able to meet the true expectations and needs of all the Spanish young people.

Solidarity with the Spanish comrades – for democracy and freedom!

WFDY denounces that two members of the Collectives of Young Communists (CJC-Spain, WFDY member organization) and a member of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain are facing a trial in which each of them could be sentenced to three years and ten months in prison. The state prosecution claims three years and ten months in prison for three Spanish Communists, members of PCPE and CJC. The prosecutor bases his request on the events that took place in Barcelona on 14 November 2007, on the occasion of the demonstration to protest against the murder of a young anti-fascist in Madrid on November 11, brutally repressed by the Spanish police in an action that caused several injured people.

The comrades that face charge of being the promoters of disorder are accused of a crime related to an event in which not even all of them attended, since the accusation was formed only when they went to the police station with some lawyers to know what was the situation of two other members of CJC Spain that had been arrested in the demonstration.

It is remarkable that all the defendants involved that are not communists are being target of legal action in one process, and all the communists are being target of a different process - this second one counts with one evidence only: the statement of the police.

WFDY denounces this situation and calls upon all its member and friendly organizations to widespread the news and solidarity towards our comrades of CJC Spain. This attack is a part of the attack that has been taking place in the whole world against the democratic rights and freedoms of the peoples, having as main target the anti-imperialist consequent forces in a clear attempt to shut down the struggling capabilities of the youth and peoples.
As per request of our comrades, as one of several expressions of solidarity, you can sign an online petition they are organizing at: http://pcpe.es/formulario2010/index-en.php
