The World Federation of Democratic Youth is deeply concerned with new development in Korean Peninsula these days, due to unprecedented anti-DPRK confrontation moves of the US and south Korean conservative authorities, inter-Korean relation was ruined completely and, touch-and-go situation has been created once again on the Korean peninsula where the ravages of a nuclear war could break out at slightest provocation.Despite DPR Korea’s positive initiation for peace that with recent commitment to be ready to de-denuclearize the Korean peninsula as its commitments with signaling of destroying its nuclear facilities for the reciprocity of non aggression treaty and withdrawal of foreign forces from Korean soil, all the provocations of war and trail to further isolate DPRK has heightened serious tension of war in the peninsula. We believe that any tension and possible war in Korean Peninsula will not be only catastrophic to the Korean people but destabilize the whole region for any chance to be developed peacefully and in harmony.

The US and the South Korean conservative authorities reveal their character as the dialogue disruptor and peace breaker, responding to the DPRK-proposed wide-ranging dialogue and negotiations for peace and detente with military actions for aggression.

WFDY condemns and denounces the anachronistic hostile policy of the US towards DPRK and strongly demands the US to stop unconditionally aggressive nuclear war exercises which bring fiery cloud of nuclear war over the Korean peninsula and withdraw their troops and nuclear weapons immediately out of south Korea!

WFDY confirms that the June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Declaration, adopted between North and South for peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula, should be thoroughly implemented and sharply condemns and denounces the pro-US and anti-reunification confrontational policy of the South Korean Authorities.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth is deeply concerned with the tension created in Korean Peninsula following the sad incident of sinking South Korean warship leaving 46 sailors dead on board.The tension is heightened as South Korea accused for the Torpedo attack from DPR Korea is responsible for the cause; however the DPR Korea has outright denied so. It is noteworthy to mention the investigation is unilaterally carried out denying the request to receive investigation team to help to investigate from the first hand information. The allegation to DPRK is not based up on scientific evidences and fabricated after a long time of incident is to isolate its fellow country by the ultra-right and conservative government of south.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth supports the idea to carry out independent investigation with the involvement of both counter parts. In this regards the environment of investigation will be more conducive by the facilitation of their immediate neighbors or those parties already involved to mediate the Korean crisis. We appeal to concerned parties to maintain restraint and allow mediating dialogue to find the way out of this tension.

WFDY always supports the idea of regional stability and peace in the region that is free from any imperialist occupation and war. Thereby, we reject any solution or rhetoric that aims the idea of any sort of revenge or hate, and we highlight how some sectors of the south Korea are making use of this event to take advantage in the coming elections to be disputed soon in that territory.

WFDY has been supporting from very beginning the peaceful re-unification of Korean Peninsula and lasting peace in the region.

WFDT recognize DPRK policy to realize the denuclearization of the peninsula and protect the stability and peace of the region but not allowing any slightest act to infringe upon its sovereignty and right to existence. WFDY denounces the interfering and aggressive role of the US imperialism and its allies in Korean Peninsula to divide its people. We make clear our position against any intention to isolate DPR Korea politically and economically by imposing any kinds of sanctions.

We urge all the member and friendly organization of WFDY and global youth to stand by the WFDY position and support for the cause of peaceful reunification of Korean Peninsula and regional stability without any imperialist infringe.

Recently such touch-and-go tension that any accidental incident may break a nuclear war is prevailing on the Korean peninsula and northeast Asia region.The US recently staged the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint war exercises resembling the whole operation of a war from March 9~20 despite the strong condemnation at home and abroad by mobilizing 26,000 U.S. imperialist aggression troops present in south Korea and overseas and hundreds of thousands of south Korean puppet army troops, nuclear-powered carriers and submarines and other maritime mobile strike forces to bring the regional situation to the brink of a war.

On the eve of these exercises, the test war exercises for mounting surprise preemptive attacks on the DPRK, the US imperialists have massively deployed B-52Hs, B-2As, F-22As and other sophisticated war equipments to south Korea and Japan and the regions around them to further strain the military confrontation.

In support of the confrontational policy and aggressive war moves of the US imperialists against the DPRK the pro-US conservative forces of south Korea are running amuck with red-blood eyes on confrontation against the DPRK.

The conservative forces of south Korean authorities who came to power at the beginning of the last year have revived the former fascist dictatorial regimes in south Korea and bloodily override the progressive youth and students and people in their movement for social democracy in south Korea, clamoring that they would get back the “lost 10 years”.

The south headquarters of National Association of Youth and Students for Country’s Reunification, south headquarters of National Alliance for Country’s Reunification, General Association of Students in South Korea and other patriotic organizations for national reunification are the main victims of the fascist policy of south Korean authorities.

The Lee Myung Bak group has been crazy on making a fuss against the DPRK under the cloak of “no-nuke, opening and 3000 dollars” and totally nullified the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration of the north and south.

He also put a check-bar down on the north-south reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, running about on the aggressive war exercises against DPRK in conspiracy with the outside forces.

The Lee group whitewashed all the agreements between the north and south and released all the legal and institutional mechanisms for preventing war on the Korean peninsula.

The Japanese ultra-right conservative forces’ moves for nuclear-armed military power also make the regional situation more dangerous.

Under these circumstances the US and Japanese imperialists as well as the south Korean warmongers are going to bring up the DPRK’s   satellite-launch for peaceful purposes related with the DPRK’s sovereignty on the UN Security Council, misleading the international opinion that the program is a test for launching a missile.

Expressing deep concern on the extreme tension prevailing on the Korean peninsula, the World Federation of Democratic Youth strongly claims that the armed forces and military bases of US army must be immediately withdrawn from south Korea to ensure stable peace and security in northeast Asia region. It also vehemently condemns the daily-increasing maneuvers of Japanese imperialists for military power which is already reached over dangerous line.

WFDY confirms that the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration agreed upon between north and south Korea for peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula should be thoroughly implemented, strongly blaming the pro-US and conservative, anti-reunification and confrontational policy of south Korean authorities against DPRK.

Accusing that the badly intended campaign of the US and its followers to intercept the launch of the DPRK’s experimental communications satellite for peaceful purposes as a violent abuse on the legitimate right of a sovereign state, WFDY strongly requests them to stop at once the aggression and intervention against the DPRK.

WFDY calls upon the world progressive peoples and youth to send firm solidarity to the Korean people and youth in their just struggle to defend the national sovereignty and dignity and eliminate the root cause of a war in the Korean peninsula as well as to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country; to support them in the joint struggle to defeat the aggressive war moves of the US and its followers who are trying to break the world peace and security.
