Aung San Suu Kyi prevented to participate in National Elections in Burma

The World Federation of Democratic Youth shows it grave concerns on recent development in Burma to ban Aung San Suu Kyi to participate in national election as per recent law promulgated by the Military Junta. This development is accompanied with the charge of breaching the law of prison when uninvited stranger got entry to her lakeside house prison. Her house prison has been extended till November 2010 and the court had already rejected her appeal to release.

The pro-democratic leader and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Ki, 62, has already spent 14 years of illegal and immoral detention of house arrest in last 20 years. The consequences were developed after her party had won 80 percent of total parliament seats in 1990´s national election.

It is shrewd and trickery of Military Junta to put into pressure to National League for Democracy not to pay regard to its leader and her role for democracy in Burma. WFDY denounces such action of Military Junta in its strongest term as it is the mockery of law in Burma and that has only served to push back the blinking hope for democracy in deeper darkness.

Till now there are still more than 2000 students, youths and civilians in prison just for echoing their voice for democracy and justice in peaceful manner.

We urge all youth and student organization under WFDY umbrella to protest such action and show the solidarity with democratic struggle in Burma. We demand to Military Junta to retreat from such decision, and resume free and fair election in Burma to restore full democracy in the country. We appeal international community and human right organization to put pressure to release all political prisoners immediately along with pro-democratic leader Aung San Suu Ki.

Solidarity towards Burmese youth and students!

The Word Federation of Democratic Youth is deeply concerned with the recent development in Burma to put into a trail an opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi with a charge of avoiding terms of Insein Prison. As Aung San Suu Kyi’s six-year term of house arrest is going to expire at the end of the month, the entry of a mysterious American man crossing the lake besides the prison has provided to the military ruler a benefit of doubt not to release her. The military ruler was afraid of her presence in public that they were hard pressed to hold the general election next year. With this charge they can extend her prison terms for three years more.

The military government has allowed very little reporting to media about the trail. The suppressed calm of Rangun can burst again and brutality of the military could over power to crush it.

We think that the home imprisonment of Aung san Suu Kyi is already illegal and the avoid of terms and conditions by getting entry of a stranger is his unilateral act. We do believe there is no need to be loyal towards military rule, their brutal suppression towards innocent people and cease of democratic rights and parliament, and imprisonment of its leader and followers.

WFDY reaffirms its commitment and solidarity with Burmese youth and students along with our member organization All Burma Student League. Further, we strongly demand to military Junta in Burma to restore multiparty democracy by ending their military rule, and for the immediate release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners.

We urge to all youth and student organizations around the globe to stand by the voice of Burmese students and strongly denounce the trail that recently orchestrated by Military Junta in Burma.
