    WFDY salutes KSM victory!

On January 27th 2010 the Communist Youth Union (KSM) of the Czech Republic was tried again at the Municipality Court of Prague regarding the issue of illegalization of KSM. The Municipality Court of Prague, based on KSM’s extraordinary appeal and decision of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic, cancelled the judgment at law from 2008, which rejected the administrative protest delivered by the KSM against the decision of the Ministry of Interior of Czech Republic on the dissolution of the KSM. This is very important decision for KSM, because it legalises KSM again. KSM now can again work openly as legal organisation. The official reason of the illegalization of the KSM by Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic in 2007 was declared a programmatic goal of the KSM is to replace private ownership of means of production with a collective ownership of means of production. Also the reason for the dissolution of KSM was the convincement of the young people about the necessity to struggle for another society not based on the capitalist principles.

This step of the Ministry of Interior caused a fundamental disagreement of the majority of the Czech people. The petition supporting the KSM has been signed by thousands of the citizens of the Czech Republic so far. Against the decision of the Ministry of Interior protested, for example, also the organisations of the former fighters against fascism and guerrilla resistance movement members. The petition of the civic associations has come out from an initiative of the student activists that denounce the steps of the Ministry of Interior against KSM. The support for KSM has been expressed also by a number of the Czech political parties. Thanks to initiative of the MPs of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) proceedings of the Ministry of Interior were discussed in a Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

The initiative of the Ministry of Interior was reflected with a big consideration also abroad. Hundreds of the youth, student and trade organisations have expressed their protests. Thousands of the people addressed their indignation to the Ministry of Interior and embassies of the Czech Republic abroad, among others a number of members of national parliaments, European parliament, university professors, and former fighters against fascism. A number of protest activities took place in front of the embassies of the Czech Republic in a number of countries.

The judgment of the Municipality Court of Prague on KSM’s means legalisation of the KSM. It is very important victory in the struggle against anticommunism and anti-democratic development in the Czech Republic.

NO to the persecution of communists in Poland!

WFDY has received with great concern the news of the ban of the communist symbols (hammer and sickle and red star) in Poland, by initiative of the Polish Government.

This measure, approved and promoted by all European Union structures, is a new evidence of the anti-communist cruzade that the imperialist forces have embraced as their mission, with similar results in different Eastern European countries.

The persecution of communists and communist organizations is one of grim faces of imperialism. Beyond the empty and rethorical speeches about “freedom” and “democracy” the imperialist structures and governments’ actions clearly show that imperialism cannot cope with the possibility of others thinking differently.

In a framework in which the historical limits of capitalism were so clear to the peoples and youth of the world, following the international crisis of capitalism, there is no other way for the imperialist structures than banning and persecuting all those who struggle against its domination.

It is a dark coincidence that such act took place in the exact same week when, against the will of the peoples, the European Union and the governments of its member states impose the so called Lisbon Treaty (declaring its implementation from December 1) and when NATO decides to increase its military presence occupying Afghanistan, also in name of “freedom” and “democracy”.

As before, WFDY reaffirms that this is not a matter that concerns communists only, as it is part of an anti-democratic strategy that aims a gradual attack to all levels of democratic freedoms.

Therefore, WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to join its solidarity message to the Polish communists and take action to denounce among the youth of the world this ongoing attack and organize actions to demonstrate its condemnation of this anti-democratic measure.

Against anti-communism and all kind of anti-democratic measures

On the day of today, the European Union is calling upon all European people to celebrate the so called “Europe-wide Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism”, following the anti-communist and anti-democratic resolutions approved by the European Parliament.

This measure is, once again, a step towards the criminalization of the communist ideal and an attempt to make equivalent the fascist ideology to the ideology of peace, freedom and democracy, the communist ideology.

Furthermore, it is a complete hypocrisy for a structure as European Union to raise the “flag of democracy”, when itself is imposing for the third time now an European Constitution that has already been rejected two times by the peoples; a structure as European Union that supports the role of NATO and aims to strengthen bounds with this international killing and destroying machine that over the last 60 years has supported all fascist regimes of Europe; a structure as European Union that has everyday stronger economical and political bounds with the Zionist state of Israel, that slaughters and humiliates the Palestinian people in their own land; a structure as European Union, that lets that in its inside there is a youth, democratic, peace loving organization be banned just because of their communist ideology (namely, the Communist Youth Union of Czech Republic).

To the Members of the European Parliament who approved this resolution and to all those who decide to join this dark celebration we remind that it was the Western European countries and USA (the so called “democratic countries”), who took no hesitation to bring back to power the high ranking officers of the former fascist armies. Moreover, it is important to remind that two thirds of all battle fronts that allowed the world to defeat Hitler’s army were on Eastern Europe and, most of them, conducted by the Soviet Union.

Such processes of comparing Fascist regimes to the socialist oriented societies, namely Soviet Union, are manoeuvres of deceiving and distraction from the agonizing imperialist powers.

Today, as in the past, imperialism is creating means, strategies and subjective conditions to persecute communist, progressive and anti-imperialist forces, particularly in the moment lived now, when the international financial crisis has brought up even more clearly the unsolvable contradictions of imperialism as an upper stage of the capitalist system. Imperialism knows that its survival, or the delay of its end, depends on confusing the youth and people of the world, preventing them to realize that only by struggling and rallying under the anti-imperialist organizations they can hope for a truly and long lasting peaceful and fair future.

WFDY draws the attention to the ongoing crimes and massacres against mankind that deserve not only analysis but concrete action from all possible democratic means, such as the massacre of the Palestinian and Saharan people, the constant persecutions to all democrats in Colombia, Burma, Swaziland, Philippines and others as well as the completely outraging situation of coup d’état in Honduras.

WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to denounce the anti-communist attack being launched and to continue their struggle for democracy and freedom, alongside with all elements that a constitute a truly democratic state, as universal access to education, employment, health, food, culture and sports, which is very far from being the reality inside the European Union member states and many others in the world.
