The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), founded in 1945 after the anti-fascist victory of the people, as anti-imperialist, progressive, democratic and massive international youth organization that gather more than 150 organizations from more than 100 countries promotes the unity, cooperation, organized action, solidarity, exchange of information and experiences of struggle among the progressive youth forces, playing an indispensable role on the struggle against imperialism, fascism, colonialism, exploitation and war, for peace, independence and national sovereignty, internationalist solidarity, youth rights. By the ideals and values that represents, WFDY is an example for the anti-imperialist youth movement at world level, for its entire historical struggle and convictions.

WFDY plays a fundamental role for the reinforcement of the anti-imperialist and progressive youth movement, for the dynamic of the struggle, and for political and social conscientiousness of young people. The demands, positions and opinions of WFDY are the result of the action and demands of the youth movement in totally, its connection to the reality, problems, aspirations, struggles and conquers of the youth because the dynamic, aspirations and struggle of youth and students movement in each country are closely connected with the action and intervention of each organizations.

Nowadays the complex and dangerous situation in international level puts in front of us harder challenges and bigger responsibilities. Young people around the world have been seriously victimized by the efforts to stabilize capitalism trough an international strategy so-called “capitalist globalization”, an instrument of unprecedented exploitation and control of the people and national policies and resources by international capital. Capitalism / Imperialism cannot solve problems or answer to the interests and needs of the youth, instead they increase the problems and seem to want a new generation with no rights whatsoever with the goal to rule as the only possible system in the world’s scale and smash whomever stand against them. For the capitalist forces it is essential the people not to organize, question, qualm, think, discuss or reflect and know the defeats of capitalism – that are the victories of the workers and people. They only want the people to accept the things like they are presented to us, accommodated and resigned to a history that they want with no more chapters. We have not reached the end of the ideologies and the end of the history and life has proved it. Despite the ideological offenses of imperialism the progressive forces have been resisting, confronting, becoming victorious and growing stronger with more determination. As long as injustice and exploitation will rule the world, as long as peoples are being oppressed there will be always resistance.

The young people as one of the main targets of the pro-capitalist neo-liberal policies has been one of the strata that highlights on its combat leading concrete youth struggles and being highly involved in more general struggles. In various forms throughout the world, young people fight against war, hunger, misery, poverty, blockades, embargos, sanctions, HIV-AIDS and all forms of discrimination and exploitation for a world of peace, free from nuclear weapons. They combat for self-determination, national sovereignty, independence, democracy, security, international solidarity and cooperation. They fight for human rights, young women’s rights, sexual and reproductive rights, sustainable development and environment. They struggle for the right to food and water, social justice, access to employment, labor rights, public, free and qualitative education, health care, sports, housing, culture and technology. The answer to this offense is the intensification of the people’s and mass struggle against imperialism and war, for peace, democracy and social progress. The fight is the path to the battle against imperialism and to the conquest of rights, which all of us ought to follow.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth is getting inspired by the noble ideals and goals of the founder generation of WFDY and of all other generations, which fought vigorously against imperialism, hand in hand with the youth and workers for a new society, more fraternal and fair, without exploitation of man by man. WFDY has continued to struggle over the years for the human liberation from all kinds of oppression, discrimination and imperialist domination.  WFDY is committed to stand for and fight for the rights of youth and to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the youth of the world. At the moment of its 60^th anniversary, which should be mainly a moment of struggle, we underline that the ideals that were present at WFDY foundation are completely valid and that its democratic and progressive traditions reinforce our determination to continue the struggle, initiated in 1945, for the rights of the world youth till the final victory. The victory will be ours!
