On the International Woman Day (100th Anniversary)

On the occasion of the International Woman’s Day, particularly in this 100th anniversary, the World Federation of Democratic Youth salutes all women of the globe, especially those who bravely fight against imperialism.
It was 100 years ago that the women of several different countries of the world came together and declared this day to mark their struggle for better working conditions and the end of all sorts of discriminations, for full recognition of their rights as youngsters, workers and human beings.
In a world in which the wars, occupations, environmental destruction, unemployment, precariousness, exploitation, barriers in access to education, culture and sports is a reality for more and more people, women face an even stronger attack of imperialism that, together with everything else, still elects women as target for chauvinistic and discriminative values making life even worse for them, particularly for the working women, whose rights are even further denied.
WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to spread the historical content of this day, as well as the contribution of important of women as Clara Zetkin, Luxembourg Rosa, Dolores Gomez, Winnie Mandela (among many others), to enhance even further the common struggle - of men and women - against the source of all inequalities and injustices in the world: imperialism!

Solidarity with Sahara - 34th Anniversary of Independence Declaration

The day of February 27 marks an important and significant day in the life of the liberation movement around the world. It is on this day when the independence of the Saharawi Arab Democratic republic was declared, in what was known to be Western Sahara. After independence from the Spanish colonialism, this state was the victim of another occupational period under the control and hegemony of Morocco which claimed that Sahara was part of its land and declared annexing the Sahara to its borders.

The youth and the people of Western Sahara have fought bravely for their independence since that time in all possible means, militarily and peacefully to guarantee their rights in an independent state. Many of them were persecuted, exiled or jailed but UJSARIO, the youth of POLISARIO and the whole of the Saharan youth and people remain committed to their cause and their struggle.

The progressive and the anti-imperialist movement of the world have always supported the rights of the Western Saharan people and didn’t miss any chance in raising this issue in all international, regional and national struggles in an action of solidarity towards a just cause.

WDFY has been always there to support the cause of Sahara and will always be, as anti-imperialist solidarity will only strengthen the struggles of the youth around the world.

On this day, WFDY extends its solidarity to the Sahrawi youth and people and salutes them wishing them a future full of struggles and successes and once again confirms that the right of self determination of the Sahrawi people will always be a priority for the anti-imperialist struggle.

On the unfair sanctions against Eritrea

The World Federation of Democratic Youth in its quest to fight imperialism, and on behalf of member and friendly organizations hereby joins the youth and people of Eritrea in denouncing the unjust sanctions unilaterally imposed by the United States of America and the European Union through the United Nations Security Council.

The imperialists masquerade as the god-fathers of democracy and the rule of law are on the forefront of drafting some draconian laws to further impoverish the peace loving people of Eritrea. It’s mindboggling to note that the some militarily powerful nations are on the driving seat of the United Nations Security Council.
Peace may never prevail in the Horn of Africa if the imperialists continue to meddle under unjust disguise.
The United States of America and the European Union must put off their hands in the Eritrea- Ethiopia border dispute and we fully encourage the African Union to swiftly move and ensure the full implementation of the agreed resolutions on this border dispute.

On this day, 22 February 2010, we stand side by side with the youth and people of Eritrea to denounce in its strongest terms these unholy, unjust, inhuman sanctions imposed by imperialists to further their colonial dominance over the “militarily weak nations”. In this frame we also denounce malicious, uncouth and cheap media propaganda used to justify this barbaric act with hardly any shame thus further seeking the re-colonization of Africa using unjust elements.

Furthermore, we appeal to other peace loving progressive youth from around the globe to join the international campaign to vilify these sanctions against Eritrea and demand the urgent and unconditional lifting of these sanctions by the United Nations Security Council. In fact we expect the United Nations to prioritize assisting the youth of Eritrea in education, health and shelter and many other needs whose list is endless, instead of slapping them with sanctions.
