Information on the Brigade Mission to
Lebanon September 16-23, 2007
Based on the
decisions of the 17th assembly to organize
activities in solidarity with the struggles of the
Lebanese and Palestinian youth, WFDY decided to organize
a solidarity brigade mission to Lebanon, in coordination
with the Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth, our member
organization in Lebanon.
Delegations from the following organizations attended
the mission: WFDY, UJC Cuba, JCP Portugal, YTKP Turkey,
EDON Cyprus, JCV Venezuela, DYUS – Syria, SCYU - Syria
and ULDY Lebanon.
The mission was hosted in the village
of Zrariyi in the south of Lebanon in an outdoor camp
near Litani river, which is the border line where the UN
troops can operate in the south of Lebanon.
The activities
started on Sunday September 16, with the celebrations of
the establishment of the
"Lebanese National Resistance
Front", then continued from Monday September 17 till
Friday Sept 21 with visits of field qork in different
villages in the south of Lebanon. The work varied from
helping farmers in harvesting, cleaning and planting
specific gardens dedicated for the martyrs of ULDY,
cleaning the surroundings of a major hospital in the
south and visiting the families of many martyrs. The
mission also included a walk on the path used by the
militants of the resistance for a whole day.
Saturday Sept
22 was designed for political meetings and discussions.
The first meeting was about the
"Imperialist policies
for the middle east and how to fight against them".
It was
followed by a second discussion about the
"National
Campaign for Boycotting Companies Supporting Israel".
The discussion was followed by a slide show about the
companies owned, shared or supporting Israel.
The final evaluation of the mission was good, and the
delegates in general evaluated this kind of voluntary
work as very important in bringing the comrades of
different organizations close together and to the
Lebanese people in south of Lebanon. There was also a
positive reaction among the people of the south whenever
we visited them or got in contact with them.
