Democracy is violated in Sri Lanka with political protection from the government, having more than one incidence of attacking and shooting on peaceful rallies and protests which always leads to the death and injury of protesters. The effort of the reactionary forces in Sri Lanka to terrorize the popular movement and the youth is more than obvious. It is their political need in terms of realization of their reactionary plans. On June 22, the Elected Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo suffered a Coup D’état after a destabilizationprocess of right-wing parties of that country, to stop, in this way, the progressive policies developed during the recent years.

After an incident where 17 farmers were killed, during a struggle to recover their lands in the Department of Canindeyú, the national landowning oligarchy, under the imperial service, used this event as a pretext to realize a political process to oust President Lugo, whose government, indeed, is backed by the farmers.International opinion already considers this act as a Parliament Coup D’état.

This coup is added to a long list of attempts to destabilize the people’s self-determination in Latin America, where local oligarchies have acted in alliance, tolerance or complicity with the United Stated government, as well as what occurred in Venezuela, Bolivia, Honduras and Ecuador, all of those coups condemned by WFDY. The 25 of June is marked by the beginning of the US imperialist attack and war in Korea, 62 years ago, in1950. It was one of the first and most vicious attacks of the American Imperialism after the Second World War. It was a part of their plans to put a stop to the liberation movement that was emerging all around the world and it could threaten their interests and control around the world. Since then they didn’t hesitate to directly attack a country, to overthrow democratic governments to establish dictatorships as long as they could continue the exploitation of the peoples.  But they were not always successful because they were falling to predict the possibilities of the peoples resistance. This was the example of Korea.

The Korean people heroically resisted the US attack. Organized and determined the Korean people were fighting for their independence for their freedom against another imperialist that was aiming to deprive them from their rights. Despite the difficulties, with courage and self sacrifice the Korean people were able to stem the attack and safeguard their freedom and their future.
