The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) joins the youth of Venezuela on the festive day of 12 of February. It is the day that marks the 198 anniversary of the memorable Battle of Victory where a handful of brave young Venezuelan were able to defeat Spanish colonial troops, giving a convincing demonstration of heroism and sacrifice of youth on the objective of national liberation.

From WFDY we send our greeting and fervent revolutionary message of commitment with each and every young man and woman in Venezuela who are mobilized and struggle across the country, the youth that develops activities and action to continue the defeats of imperialism and advance the consolidation of the Bolivarian process.

This year’s anniversary is of great importance and significance, since in 2012 young people will undertake a new and decisive battle against imperialism and its local allies: the coming presidential elections scheduled for October 7. The triumph of popular forces expressed in the candidacy of Hugo Chavez, is one of the most important goals for all young Venezuelan revolutionary today. As they did 198 years ago, they must contain the new offensive of imperialism.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth expressed, on behalf of all its member organizations, their strong rejection of systematic attacks by U.S. imperialism against the Bolivarian process. We express our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and youth, encouraging them not to lose their courage and to redouble the struggle to defend their rights of self-determination, independence and of deepening of the anti - imperialist Venezuelan process.
