Solidarity with the Greek people, workers and youth

WFDY has received the news that the Greek parliament has decided to pass another austerity plan to take even further the process of privatizations, tax raises and rights withdrawing that the Greek people have been suffering for the last years.

Under the excuse of the national and international crisis, the Prime Minister Georgeou Papandreou and the Government of PASOK (Socialist Party of Greece) tried to blackmail the people, attempting to convince the workers and the youth that the refusal of this plan would lead to a situation “even worse” than the social catastrophe already lived today, because the international “assistance” would not be given to Greece.

Outside Greece, the international structures of the monopolies such as the International Monetary Fund and the European Union participated in this process of blackmail with the same arguments.

On this occasion, WFDY underlines that never the IMF and EU intervention in a country has brought prosperity. It only serves the interests of the capital forces both in national and international level, in cooperation with the bourgeois forces in each country by reducing the rights of the workers and youth, destroying the public services and deepening even more the already existing social problems. Furthermore, the money sent to Greece, not only will be paid with a high interest rate, as it is being distributed among the financial sector, to ensure that the bank owners and other big economic groups never face any problem.

Over the last 48 hours the Greek working class and youth have shown that they are willing to counterattack against these brutal policies. The general strike that involved millions of workers and the countless number of actions all throughout Greece are powerful sign of the peoples’ belief and strength and was only possible with the most valuable contribution of the class oriented trade unions rallied in PAME, WFDY member organization in Greece, KNE (Communist Youth of Greece) and its Party, KKE (Communist Party of Greece)

In this moment, even if the Government decided to ignore the express will of the people it should represent, WFDY sends a word of solidarity to the Greek workers and youth, encouraging them to continue struggling, since it is clearer than ever that only through the organized and militant struggle it is possible to resist and to win!

    Solidarity with the Senegalese youth

WFDY has received with concern the news that the Senegalese President Abdoulaye WADE wills to install a monarchy in Senegal by being succeeded by his son Karim. The Senegalese youth refused to allow this “ticket to presidency” to be voted by the people’s elected deputies. Wade and his clan have imposed on their members who form a large majority in the National Assembly to vote blindly the project that would allow him to be elected with only 25% of the votes.

This obsession of the President and his clan to ignore the people’s will led him to change the Constitution several times so that he is re-elected by the minority. And this, in spite of the indecent management, the abusive administrative divisions, the fund misappropriations, the financial scandals of the ANOSI, the money laundering, the murders committed (more than 14 people have been killed without finding the responsible for the murders), the bag of misfortunes born by the people of Senegal and more.

On June 23rd, the youth said “NO, DON’T TOUCH MY CONSTITUTION”, and showed itself ready to defend it to the end. Youth answered by various gatherings, especially in front of square SOWETO (opposite to the National Assembly, in Dakar), in order to denounce the way one man was forced upon them.

Despite of the police repression and the fact that they used all that was at their disposal to stop the wind of revolt, the youth remained all day in front of the gates of the National Assembly to wait for the outcome of the vote. The police injured more than 107 young people, arrested citizens that were demonstrating for FREEDOM.

WFDY stands in solidarity with our comrades and the youth of Senegal that struggle for democracy and freedom in their country, so that once and for all this people can enjoy full self determination and development.

On the ICC capture warrant against Muammar Khadafi

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a capture warrant Muammar Khadafi, president of Libya, blaming him for the “illegitimate arresting of
people” and “murders of opposition members” standing against the Libyan government, both done since last February.

Once again, the ICC comes to prove itself as a ridiculous puppet of the imperialist order, whose only purpose is to legitimate the imperialist interventions.

It is of high importance to remind, once again, that this court does not judge American soldiers or crimes done by the US and, since it exists, never it has taken even a word against the countless crimes of NATO or any other imperialist coalition or intervention.

WFDY does not recognize to the ICC even a drop of authority to blame or find guilty anyone for anything. Over the last years, this so-called “court”, has never even spoken about the killing done by imperialist criminals and their allies in Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Western Sahara, Bahrain, Yemen, Tunisia and Egypt (just to mention a few) and always stood by the side of the occupiers, the bombers and the dictators. Its role is to contribute to the pillage and murder that imperialism spreads around the world with its constant wars and conflicts.

The motivation of imperialism to bombard and invade Libya was never and is not Khadafi or any hypocrite defense of the human rights. Imperialism has armed rebel forces, bombed and invaded Libya and killed innocent Libyan people to go after the Libyan immense reserves of oil and to be able to install in that area another huge military compound that will create better conditions for any new interventions.

On this occasion, WFDY calls upon all its member organizations to denounce this new wave of propaganda as part of the continuous efforts we are making for the immediate end of the war against Libya, so that it can be the Libyan people to solve their own issues, as in any other sovereign country.
