The World Federation of Democratic Youth has watched the recent developments in and about Libya with deep concern and alarm.It is terrible for WFDY that the answer to the Libyan people demands and street demonstrations has been repression and, in many cases, death of the protestors.
This deserves from us our full condemnation as it is unacceptable and represents a violation of the basic rights of expression and freedom of association, inherent to all peoples of the world.

At the same time, it is for WFDY alarming that, under these circumstances, the imperialist powers (USA and EU) gathered in NATO have launched, through the dominating media, a campaign to justify an external intervention in that country, under the pretext of “defending the protestors’ rights.”

In this moment, it is important to underline that never NATO or any of its members cared when in Yemen or Bahrain (allies of the imperialist powers) brutally represses the protesters in those countries. Furthermore, it is a total hypocrisy that those same countries (particularly in EU) with high level relation with the government of Libya are now pretending to be historical enemies of Khadafi ruling of the country.

In this situation, WFDY calls for a peaceful understanding between all parts inside Libya and totally rejects any sort any sort of exterior interference, particularly, any sort of military intervention, as we believe that only the Libyan people is able to solve its own problems and an intervention from NATO or any military block could only mean death and stealing of resources, as happened in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The last few days witnessed a wide movement of protest and demonstration in Bahrain demanding for democratic political reform towards a constitutional democratic state. This has been a historical demand for the progressive forces of Bahrain and now many people are rallying around it.Tens of thousands went into the streets demanding for their inalienable political rights which is very significant in a country of a population of half-million. The movement appears to be united and strong giving hopes for possible successes in favor of the people.

However, the regime of the king is resorting to its traditional criminal tools of repression including the direct shooting of several demonstrators and following others back to their houses and arresting their families. The regime is also trying to fuel sectarian divisions in a country of religious diversity in order to divide the movement. The acts of the police are being very brutal and this led to at least 7 martyrs among the demonstrators and hundreds of injured people.

In this regard, we find important and urgent that we express our solidarity with the youth and people of Bahrain and ask for pressure on their regime through statements and letters addressed to their embassies and consulates abroad condemning the practices of oppression and repression in the country, in addition to protests wherever it is possible in front of the diplomatic missions of Bahrain to ask them to listen to the people’s voice and demands.

WFDY praises the progressive movement of Bahrain and ask for deeper solidarity with it and strongly condemns the practices of the regime. WFDY also expresses its worries for the safety and for the lives of the demonstrators.

It is a great historical moment of pride and dignity, of enthusiasm and persistence. It is the time when the people rose up for their inalienable rights, when they fought, revolted and won.The great Egyptian people have achieved a big victory that can reshape the future of their country and also of the region. After 30 years of tyranny from the Mubarak regime, the puppet of imperialism in the region that worked day and night to protect the interests of USA and Israel in the region was ousted by the people, even if, in total show of hypocrisy, now all the former supporters of Mubarak regime come to the media to salute the achievements of the Egyptian people by overthrowing their ally of yesterday.

In this regard, WFDY highly praises the victory of the people and their organization, and expresses its solidarity with all the demands of the Egyptian people in constitutional amendments, dismantling the parliament and electing a new one and organizing new, free and open presidential elections open for the people to have their choices. WFDY also supports the demands calling for restoring the civil system as soon as possible accompanied by the constitutional amendments and political reforms.

WFDY calls for the continuation of the struggle until the full achievement of all the rights of the Egyptian people, and also for making the Egyptian revolution as an example for all the youth of the region and the world that change is possible and that the power only lies in the hands of the masses.

The spirit of revolution is spreading in the region, after Tunisia came Egypt and after Egypt the people will continue the struggle for further victories.

لقد سقط الطاغية ووحدها إرادة الشعب استطاعت تحقيق ذلك!

إنها لحظة تاريخية عظيمة من الفخر والكبرياء، من الاندفاع والصمود. إنه الوقت الذي انتفض فيه الناس من اجل حقوقهم الثابتة، فثاروا وقاتلوا وانتصروا.
لقد حقق الشعب المصري العظيم نصراً كبيراً يمكن ان يعيد رسم مستقبل مصر والمنطقة، فبعد ثلاثين عاماً من طغيان نظام مبارك، سقط عميل القوى الامبريالية في المنطقة بعد ان عمل ليلاً نهاراً على حماية المصالح الاميركية والاسرائيلية في المنطقة، وقد سقط على يد الناس رغم المشهد الانتهازي الذي رأيناه اليوم في كيفية التحاق كل من أيد ودعم مبارك في الداخل والخارج لينضم الى تأييد مطالب الناس.
في هذا الاطار، يحيي الوفدي انتصار الشعب وتنظيمه العفوي، ويعبر عن تضامنه العميق مع مطالب الشعب المصري في تعديل الدستور وحل مجلس الشعب وانتخاب مجلس جديد، وتنظيم انتحابات رئاسية جديدة حرة ومفتوحة أمام الناس للتعبير عن خياراتهم. كما يدعم الوفدي مطلب إعادة العمل بالنظام المدني باقرب فرصة ممكنة مترافقاً مع التعديلات الدستورية والاصلاحات السياسية.
ويدعو الوفدي الى استمرار النضال من أجل تحقيق كل مطالب الشعب المصري ولجعل الثورة المصرية مثالاً لكل شعوب وشباب المنطقة والعالم بأن التغيير ممكن، وان السلطة الحقيقية هي في يد الجماهير.
إن روح الثورة تنتشر في المنطقة، فبعد تونس جاءت مصر وبعد مصر سيكمل الناس النضال من اجل المزيد من الانتصارات.
