Solidarity with Sahara - 34th Anniversary of Independence Declaration
The day of February 27 marks an important and significant day in the life of the liberation movement around the world. It is on this day when the independence of the Saharawi Arab Democratic republic was declared, in what was known to be Western Sahara. After independence from the Spanish colonialism, this state was the victim of another occupational period under the control and hegemony of Morocco which claimed that Sahara was part of its land and declared annexing the Sahara to its borders.
The youth and the people of Western Sahara have fought bravely for their independence since that time in all possible means, militarily and peacefully to guarantee their rights in an independent state. Many of them were persecuted, exiled or jailed but UJSARIO, the youth of POLISARIO and the whole of the Saharan youth and people remain committed to their cause and their struggle.
The progressive and the anti-imperialist movement of the world have always supported the rights of the Western Saharan people and didn’t miss any chance in raising this issue in all international, regional and national struggles in an action of solidarity towards a just cause.
WDFY has been always there to support the cause of Sahara and will always be, as anti-imperialist solidarity will only strengthen the struggles of the youth around the world.
On this day, WFDY extends its solidarity to the Sahrawi youth and people and salutes them wishing them a future full of struggles and successes and once again confirms that the right of self determination of the Sahrawi people will always be a priority for the anti-imperialist struggle.
