Solidarity with Western Sahara continues!

We the youth of African Organizations gathered here in Ausred in the Western Sahara refugee camps on the occasion on the 7th Congress of UJSARIO hereby declare on the following issues with regard to the current situation in Western Sahara:

· We are greatly mind-boggled by the deteriorating human rights situation in the Western Sahara occupied territories whereby the Sahrawi are subjected to brutality, kidnappings, detentions and torture of political prisoners of conscience, freedom of association at the hands of the Moroccan occupying forces. Notable cases in point, are the arrest and placing before a military tribunal of the seven human rights activists and the forced deportation of Aminatou Haidar amongst others.

· It is a matter of great shame that fifty years since the beginning of the decolonization process within the African continent, a fully fledged member of the African Union finds itself under the yoke of colonialism. We therefore call on the African Union to play a more active role towards ensuring the immediate decolonization of the last colony in Africa.

· We call on all progressive youth organizations in the world in general and in the African continent in particular to prioritize and intensify campaigns geared towards the full liberation of Western Sahara from the diabolical acts of the unrepentant Moroccan regime. It is therefore our intention as the progressive youth of the African Continent to engage within the forthcoming year in massive campaigns aimed at isolating the repressive Moroccan regime as well as close down their diplomatic missions on the African soil pending the resolution of the issue of Western Sahara.

· We find utterly regrettable and immoral that some two decades since the establishment of MINURSO, the Sahrawi people are yet to determine their destiny through a free and fair referendum in accordance with the United Nations resolutions on Western Sahara. The foregoing is largely a result of the systematic deficiencies within the United Nations that have allowed Morocco to violate countless UN resolutions on the referendum with the collusion of the so called veto wielding powers such as France, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. Moreover we call on Spain to fulfill its international law obligations and immediately complete the decolonization of Western Sahara.

We the youth of Africa stand ready to fight side by side with the people of Western Sahara to make sure that the last colony on the African continent is liberated. Africa cannot regard itself as free until the people of Western Sahara are free.

Victory is certain!
