NO to the USA blockade against Cuba!

The World Federation of Democratic Youth, in its struggle to defend the rights of the youth of the world, has kept always its support to the Glorious Cuban Revolution, against the criminal policy of blockade and constant threat made by one imperialist Government after another, for the last year trying to destroy the Revolution.

It is astonishing and hypocrite the present speeches of the current US Administration that supports and takes all measures to act according to the blockade, with its Nobel Peace Prize laureate President maintaining its genocide policies, which is generally recognized as a big shame for the external policy of USA, that keeps its criminals pressure on the Cuban Government and people without understanding that the Glorious Cuban Revolution is like the light that shows the way and, today, more than ever, is reinforcing itself, building a better society, with the support of 187 nations of all over the world, that have voted in the UN against the blockade, once again.

In the frame of the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, on behalf of all its member and friend organizations and all the progressive youth of the world, WFDY strongly condemns the criminal and unfair blockade imposed by the USA to Cuba, and joins the condemnation made by the whole world, demanding to USA to do what has been approved by the vast majority of the nations of the world. Furthermore, we call upon all the progressive young people of the world to keep their struggle for the unconditional end of the blockade and the release of 5 Cuban Heroes that are unfairly detained in the jails of the empire.

    Solidarity towards the Austrian students

In the past few days the students of Austria have developed significant actions in the struggle against the Bologna Process and its impacts of privatization in the Austrian educational system.

These actions, massively participated by the Austrian students, are crucial for defeating the European Union, World Bank and World Trade Organization’s imperialist strategy to prevent the children of the working class to ever access the highest levels of education, knowledge and culture.

The same imperialism that destroys and invades countries and makes millions of people starve to death in a world where the food production is actually higher than the needs of the world population, wants the future generations to be an army of silent and non-critical workers, whose only goal of life is to contribute to the concentration of wealth and increase of profits of the major economic groups.

WFDY believes that the so called “Bologna Process” is a tool of imperialism in a way to build an educational system according to the aims of the imperialists and in full contradiction with the rights, wishes and needs of mankind.

All through Europe, the consequences of the implementation of the Bologna Process are an evidence of the wish of imperialism to privatize and narrow to maximum levels the access to Education, particularly to wide knowledge and to the ability of creative development of futher knowledge.

Therefore, WFDY salutes the struggle of the Austrian students and calls upon them and their representative structures to continue the struggle until all its goals are achieved. Furthermore, WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to spread the news and solidarity towards the Austrian students, making a contribution to the reinforcement of the struggle in their own country for a Public, Free and Quality Education!

Against the extension of Detention of Ahmad Saadat

As actions across Palestine and around the world in support of imprisoned Palestinian national leader Ahmad Sa’adat continue, the illegitimate Israeli occupation military court in Bir Saba today extended Sa’adat’s isolation for six additional months.
Ahmad Sa’adat, the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, continued his boycott of the occupation courts, stating that these courts are illegitimate, invalid and can produce nothing but a mockery of justice, and that these courts are part and parcel of the war machine that continues its aggression against the Palestinian people, with isolation another weapon in their arsenal.
Sa’adat has already been held in isolation for over six months, in a special solitary confinement unit at Ramon prison where he is confined without access even to the other prisoners in the larger isolation unit, and deprived of basic human rights. His personal books have been confiscated and he is routinely denied access to television, newspapers or any other source of information.
He has been denied family visits - his wife, Abla, has been denied visits for three months - as well as legal visits, and barred from purchases at the prison canteen, including cigarette purchases. In the prison yard, Sa’adat has been held handcuffed and in ankle shackles and allowed only one-hour of exercise/recreation. All of this has been ‘justified’ by the occupation authorities as ‘punishment’ for giving two packs of cigarettes to another prisoner.
The Prison Administration is attempting to criminalize the human and social relationship between fellow Palestinian prisoners, and between the prisoners and their families outside. Palestinian national leaders, such as Sa’adat, have been particularly targeted for isolation, solitary confinement and similar punitive mechanisms and violations of their human rights, in order to suppress the Palestinian prisoners’ movement, which has been at the forefront of the Palestinian struggle for freedom, liberation, return and self-determination.
WFDY reasserts its solidarity with comrade Saadat and all Palestinian detainees and prisoners, and strongly condemn the illegal and inhumane decisions of the Israeli authorities to ban Saadat from basic life conditions, after banning the Palestinian people from a country to live in.
WFDY calls for more actions of solidarity through our organizations in every country and through the international campaign to free Ahmad Saadat, calls on the Isareli authorities to immediately release Saadat and on the UN and international bodies to take their responsibilities in his release from his illegal imprisonment.
