WFDY supports FMLN for next elections

The World Federation of Democratic Youth, has followed the struggle of the Farabundo Martí Front (FMLN) to achieve a country more fair and equal to the people of El Salvador, a process in which the youth of FMLN has played a major role, under the guidance of Schafik Handal.

It is well known that in these days the people of El Salvador is getting ready to participate in the general elections, in which the polls predict that the Front will win, which would mean a possible and awaited victory for all Latin America and for the whole world. A victory of a people that deserves to have the necessary change and fulfill its dream of full freedom and elimination of poverty and inequalities.

WFDY reaffirms its full support to the candidate of the FMLN Mauricio Funes, as well as to the Youth of the Front and calls upon all its member and friend organizations, as well as to all to all young progressive young people of the world to express its full solidarity and support towards the comrades of El Salvador, confident that on the next March 15 a victory is possible, as best recall of the dear and eternal guide, Schafik Handal.

    On the International Women’s Day

The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) salutes all young and working women on this International Women’s Day, March 08, a Day born out of the struggle of women, who throughout decades have firmly demonstrated specially in this day for specific and fair demands, namely the reduction of their working time.

The imperialist domination of the world makes that the life of women in most countries is marked by the discrimination in the access to rights. Imperialism uses the female condition to increase the exploitation of young women, punishing them for their condition of mothers, with low salaries, long working periods and short periods of time-off in case of giving birth to a child. In many countries, women face threat of or effective dismissal if they decide to have a child.

The idea that the women are something less than men, is still very much in use and, specially, in practice, despite the Universal Rights Declaration 60 years of existence. Such discrimination, statiscally confirmed, is indeed a tool of imperialism to deepen the exploitation of the people as whole, exploiting women and blackmailing men, in order to keep its domination over people, keeping also the world as place of tremendous inequalities, starvation, exploitation and war.

In this sense, WFDY is sure that only by overthrowing imperialism is possible to overthrow the discrimination faced by women in the imperialist ruled world of nowadays.

Therefore, WFDY calls upon all its member and friend organizations to make the March 08th, 2009, a day where the celebration of the International Women’s Day is made in the streets, demonstrating against the imperialist policies and its puppets around the world, for young people, women and workers’ rights, as we are sure that the organized struggle is the only way for victory.

WFDY seminar “We struggle for Public, Free, Quality Education for all!”, Hannover, Germany, March 13, 2009

On March 13, in the framework of WFDY member SDAJ Germany (March 14 and 15), a seminar of WFDY regional commission of Europe and North America, will take place to discuss the concrete developments of Secondary, Professional and High Education in the region and struggle for a full public, free and quality education for all (idea that is clear by the slogan of WFDY campaign “We struggle for a Public, Free and Quality Education for all!”, which is also the slogan for this event).

The imperialist forces manipulate education in order to make it one of their most powerful instruments for domination and exploitation. Imperialism bans the access of millions of people to education, because it knows that uneducated people are easier targets of exploitation. This is why there are so many analphabet people in the world, even though four days of money spent on weapons would be almost enough to pay all these people studies.

Moreover, in many parts of the world, imperialism imposes processes of partial or full privatization of education, transforming what is a universal right of each human being into a millionaire business that keep enriching a few imperialist groups throughout the world.

However, this is not a linear process. Many times imperialism’s goal is not only to exclude, and behind statistics of high percentages of young people attending school, the fact is that many of those people are not getting wide and emancipator knowledge. In fact, many schools and universities are more and more, factories of non-scientific formation, which goal is only to assure that people have enough formation to keep producing at a high level and where historical truth and human values are despised or subverted in order to create a selfish, reactionary and unable to resist world population (as the Bologna process is clearly showing).

The positive experiences in socialist and other countries show that through democratic and universal access to public, free and quality education people live much better: they know their rights and they are much more able to defend the workers and youth’s conquests.

For all this, WFDY fully supports the struggle of the all the students against all economical and social obstacles to an Education for All!
