WFDY Statement regarding the Youth struggle in Greece

The World Federation of Democratic Youth express its condolences and strongly condemns the assassination of the 15th years old Alexis Grigoropoulos, shot by a police man in Greece. This assassination is an incident that the Greek government and the leadership of police bear outsized responsibility. This is a result of the education and orientation of the security forces which are directed against the people, against the popular and working class movement, against the struggle of the youth. Such kind of incidents can only come out after all the EU directives of the limitation of the democratic rights the implementation of the EU Anti-terrorist Act by the imperialists.

WFDY salutes the great demonstrations and the struggles of youth of Greece. This militant reply of students of schools and universities, of young workers and people in Greece doesn’t only express the outrage of young people for the assassination of 15 year old boy. Moreover this struggle highlights that in circumstances of the financial crisis of capitalism young people can see more clearly that only through their struggle can raise their full demands for education work and life .WFDY stress and support as well, the decisive confrontation of youth and working movement in Greece with the provocative mechanisms that they aim  to defame and disorientate their struggle .

WFDY salutes the mass struggle of the Greek youth as well as the youth solidarity demonstrations in many other countries that have been taking place recently, showing that the youth has a common enemy: imperialism.

Now, as before, we are sure that the organized struggle of the youth and peoples is the only way for victory and we call upon all our member and friend organizations to reinforce their efforts spreading the facts happening in Greece as a way to reinforce their own struggle!

    We will defeat imperialism!

Against the terrorist attack in Mumbai, India

World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) has deeply saddened to listen the recent terrorist attack in Mumbai, India leaving 179 civilians dead and many wounded. The gunmen had attacked in ten places of Mumbai, and two places the Hotel Taj Mahal and Oberai were flashed into heavy attack till three days with Indian security personnel occurring major casualties.

We feel such mindless acts are heinous crimes against humanity and no-way can provide excuses for their dogma and frustration. Such types of acts in any country, in any place and in any point of time should be taken as a zero-tolerance by world masses and popular movements.

Harboring of terrorism has no mean to end any differences rather provides ground for vicious cycle of non-ending conflicts and terrorist activities. Just an evil act can no way be favourable for any party rather it can turn back its ugly face any time and any place.

WFDY firmly believes such nonsense acts targeting civilian people either be it committed by any religious/cultural group or individuals weakens the popular movement of people for the progressive change. It further provides the ground to over-power state terrorism, develops another axis of religious fundamentalism and increases indiscriminative operations and actions against innocent civilian people and dissent opinions.

Now, we have seen in India, the place of Buddha enlightened and Gandhi-revealed the value of world peace has been prone due to both ultra-Muslim and ultra-Hindu fundamentalism, namely saying, Gujrat genocide to Delhi and Mumbai blasts committed by terrorists.

WFDY believes today’s youths need to play a role to build the secular mode of social and cultural values in harmony and respect of intercultural faith while struggling against any sort of fundamentalism that hampers our beautiful socio-cultural mosaics.

At the same time we reaffirm that the attack by someone of one people/culture/religion cannot justify prejudice and discriminating measures against all the people of that group. The roots of terrorism are in imperialism conduction of the world, and it will only end with the end of imperialism, namely the state terrorism of USA and Israel. WFDY will not tolerate any new "securitarian" measures that, with the excuse of fighting terrorism, will need indeed mean decrease of rights to the people as happened after the September 11, in all the world and specifically by justifying the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan.

Finally, we again denounce such acts and stand by the voice of progressive and left youths of India this time and support for their cause to fight against any sort of absurdities prevailed in our society.

We do hope justice will be given to the victims of attack by bringing the perpetrator in the front and by ending the root causes of terrorism forever in the world rather than mere exercise to curtail human rights of innocent people and group.

WFDY statement on the International Financial Crisis

Over the last weeks there has been a growing public debate on the so called “economical crisis” that has started in the USA and had impacts in Europe and that is supposed to threaten the economy of the whole world.

This crisis, which the economists promoted by imperialism don’t seem able to explain, is in fact due to the accumulation of years of financial speculation that never produced any concrete thing, being only useful to a bunch owners of multi-national companies’ owners, who have increased even more their stupendous fortunes.

Being so, this crisis comes as natural fact of the contradictions of imperialism and can only be completely understood if analyzed in the framework of the economical functioning of the imperialist globalized economy imposed by USA, European Union and Japan to the rest of the world.

However, the “solutions” found by imperialists to solve this crisis are an offense to the people of the world, making once again the poorest pay for the crisis created by the imperialist administration and its economical allies. Moreover, they are even a contradiction with the so intensive disseminated imperialist philosophy of dismantling of the States.

The billions transferred to the bank accounts of this companies and the nationalization of banks or companies that will only bring debs to the public finances of each country are unacceptable and unfair. How many thousands of public hospitals, universities, schools, nurseries, sports centers, and culture infrastructures could have been built and kept in excellent shape with this money? How many millions of doctors and teachers could have been graduated? How many years of food and drink could have provided to mankind if that money was invested in sustainable development processes of production, especially in Africa and in Southeast Asia?

Therefore, the World Federation of Democratic Youth denounces this hideous situation and calls upon all its member and friend organizations to unite their voices to let all the youngsters of the world understand and struggle against this new face of the offense against the rights of the youth and people of the world.

With our solidarity bounds and our common struggle we will be able to defeat the imperialism intents of preserving the inequalities in which it is grounded and, therefore, we will defeat imperialism itself, building a world of peace, justice and social development.
